Eye For An Eye (2008)

Bom filme. Não via um thriller de acção coreano à bastante tempo. Este chamou-me a atenção pelas criticas que li e por ser um dos top box office coreanos no último mês. Normalmente estes tops são um bocado pipoca, sobretudo se olharmos para os que nos chegam dos eua. Mas tendo em conta que estes "box office tops" incluem mais filmes de outros países que não eua, temos aqui mais alguma abertura, o que geralmente tem melhores resultados.
O filme é bem ao estilo da magnifica série Infernal Affairs que deu origem ao não menos bom remake americano, The Departed. Boa história, bons actores, bem filmado e uma qualidade visual a que os filmes de top ocoreanos já nos habituaram.

Não vou meter imagens nem trailers. Toda a gente conhece o filme e infelizmente toda a gente deve ter tido a mesma sensação que eu ao ver este pedaço de lixo. O filme é mau de mais para ser verdade... A historia é ruim, o exagero das cenas digitais é absurdo; diversas cenas que não tem qualquer relação com a história... Horrível de mais para ser um filme feito pelo Steven Spielberg e George Lucas. Ver isto so me fez lembrar os episódios maus (ou seja todos) da série televisiva Major Alvega.

The Uninvited (A Tale of Two Sisters remake)
na sequência do post anterior, parece que vamos ter mais um remake de um filme asiático made in usa. Tale Of Two Sisters deve ser, juntamente com Ringu, dos filmes de terror asiáticos mais reconhecidos, sobretudo no nosso pais, através do Fantasporto. Pessoalmente, após ter visto uma única vez, a ideia que tenho é que se trata de um filme muito bem filmado, com bom ambiente e com uma qualidade visual acima da média, no entanto é fraco em termos de terror. Talvez na altura, também tenha achado isto, porque estava a ver com regularidade filmes com bastante gore, o que me pode ter levado a considerar TOTS demasiado soft. No entanto a critica geral ao filme é bastante unânime e positiva. Se dúvidas existem, basta ver a pontuação que este filme tem no IMDB = 7.5/10 (9,274 votes) - para um filme coreano de terror é bastante bom!

por favor, se puderem não vejam este filme. Sobretudo se viram o original. Shutter (2004), é juntamente com Ringu e Ju-on the curse, dos melhores filmes de cinema asiático a abordar a temática dos espíritos das miúdas com longos cabelos pretos. Lembro-me perfeitamente que quando o vi pela primeira vez, numa versão bem podre em svcd - adorei. Mais tarde arranjei um dvdrip e mesmo ao rever, achei que tinha uma historia bem montada e que provocava uns bons saltos, sem sangue, sem gore mas bom entretenimento. Para além disso ,foi o primeiro filme tailandês que vi...
Shutter (2008) é pobre em tudo. Tudo foi suavizado à boa moda americana - história alterada para pior e os bons momentos que o Shutter tailandês nos provoca estão aqui completamente diluídos.

eu não sei se o filme é bom. Já diversas criticas e nenhuma era 100% positiva, mas o poster é muito bom.

quem costuma vir ao blog já deve ter percebido que comédia não é mesmo a minha cena, salvo raras e honrosas excepções como o maravilhos Top Secret, mas isso história para outro post. Tropic Thunder é talvez das maiores desilusões cinefilias que tive nos últimos tempos. O trailer é perfeito, os actores são perfeitos, a história é óptima, então o que falhou? Acho o filme fica mesmo na sobra de tudo o que tem de perfeito para funcionar mas não funciona. Torna-se chato.. Não há uma única cena que vá ficar na memória e que nos faça lembrar do filme como "fdx, mesmo bom". Se quiserem ver isto esperem até estar disponivel para sacar, não gastem dinheiro no cinema. Quem viu o trailer viu tudo o que tem piada no filme.

o filme já de 2006 e já o tenho a algum tempo, mas só agora tive paciência e disponibilidade de lhe pegar. Lembro-me que fiz download disto porque li boas criticas e devido à pontuação que tem no IMDB Quanto ao filme, posso dizer que não é bom. A historia é mais do que vulgar (apenas com uma boa variação que salva o pouco do filme) e as mortes muito soft. Gostei apenas da maneira como é filmado, de alguns pormenores de cores e montagens que vão surgindo como flash e o resumo final dos acontecimentos que poderia ser bastante bom nas mãos de alguém com classe para isto. Não há muito mais a dizer.

Acho que este filme tem tudo para ser bom. A história é de Clive Barker (ou seja a cabeça por trás dos filmes Hellriser) e a direcção a cargo do master Ryuhei Kitamura (alguém que fez dois grandes filmes como Versus e Azumi.)

How can a movie that’s supposed to be extremely bloody, sexy and violent be so goddamn boring? That’s the question I have been asking myself since I walked out of the theater and it’s nearly impossible to wrap your brain around it. If they had thrown in a few more breasts (especially during Barbara’s sex scene), two good kills and used the ‘effin chainsaw, SEXYKILLER would have at least given the audiences something to talk about. Enjoy your blue balls.

Não sei qual será a ordem os filmes nem qual o encadeamento que existe ou não entre eles. Mas assim á primeira vista Mesrine: L'instinct de mort (2008) parece-me em vantagem tendo em conta a presença de: Gérard Depardieu e a maravilhosa Cécile De France (haute tension...)

Primeiro, devo dizer que já não tinha um colega que me emprestasse vinil desde a secundária;
Segundo: só me deu vontade de lhe dizer: vou gravar isto para uma Maxell cromo (metal não que estragava as cabeças do deck e depois tínhamos de comprar uma cassete de limpeza ou usar um cotonete com álcool) e devolver-te - fosga-se lembram-se disto? E lembram-se de rebobinar as cassetes com uma caneta bic para não gastar as pilhas do mega walkman da sony (o ipod da altura era o sony amarelo à prova de água).
Quanto aos discos:
- Street Kids - musica é muito semelhante ao que fazia fora daqui, sobretudo ao new wave britânico ou vanguarda, (como se chamava na minha altura). As letras são bem punk rock. Letras como: Propaganda, Tropa Não ou Nova Atitude; são típicas de quem viveu a guerra fria ou o medo de se chegar aos 18 e ter de se deixar tudo para vestir a farda. Acredito que para muita gente que lê este blog, uma música sobre Tropa não faz qualquer sentido. Aliás o termo tropa deixou de existir no vocabulário de quem já nasceu nos anos 90. Bom disco para a época.
- UGF - disco com coisas muito boas e coisas muito más. Destaco: Noites Lisboetas e Estou de Passagem; bem mais próximas de Cavalos de Corrida e Jorge Morreu, ou seja bom rock português. O resto é chato.
- IODO - a banda que menos esperava e é de facto, para mim a mais fraca (neste disco, claro). Pop Rock bem à anos 80. Letras meio psicadélicas e alguma critica social. Ouve-se bem, mas pouco mais.
Destaco sobretudo a qualidade das edições, a originalidade das letras, uns furos acima de algumas coisas que se fazem hoje em dia por cá. Sobretudo o disco dos Iodo em gatefold.
Tudo isto para dizer que é bom ter o prato de vinil aqui ao lado do pc, a tocar estes 12" com aquele cheiro a mofo que só o vinil e o encarte do vinil consegue ter. Maravilhoso!

Hipster filmmakers Suroosh Alvi and Eddy Moretti follow the four young men who make up the band from the days when Saddam Hussein ruled, and they were forced to include a song praising the dictator in their shows, through their struggle to survive the bloody Iraqi civil war, to their self-imposed exile in Syria.

Alvi and Moretti risked their lives going to Iraq to film the band, paying $1,500 a day for an entourage of bodyguards (as many as 12 at a time), a translator and two cars.

Sexta vi o The Happening(2008) e no sabado o Iron Man(2008), filmes possivelmente já mais do que vistos por alguns de vocês.
Primeiro vamos ao The Happening: não sou o maior apreciador dos filmes do mr Shyamalan, até acho o the village bastante irritante, mas the happening foi uma agradável surpresa. Gostei do conceito e da forma como uma coisa tão simples é ali exposta. Há dezenas ou centenas de filmes que tentam abordar as catástrofes naturais mas acabam por fazê-lo de forma tão repetitiva ou heróica que perdem toda a graça, acabando por ser apenas mais um filme igual a tantos outros. The happening consegue ser frio e eficiente quando deve ser.
6,5/10.


Quanto ao Iron Man: são cada vez mais os filmes de super-heróis que por têm surgido, alguns deles com pouca graça, não passando do típico heroi americano. Acho que Iron Man consegue ter o melhor que o SpiderMan nos tem dados nos últimos filmes, ou seja, a emoção e a aventura de ser um herói com sentimentos, humor e um monte de defeitos; com a ficção e os efeitos criados no universo dos Transformers. Só mais uma coisa, qualquer filme que comece com ACDC e acabe com Black Sabbath merece mais de 5.

estava a ouvir Accept (breaker), quando me deparei com esta perola dedicada ao que melhor se fez no cinema australiano, ou seja fucking OZPloitation!

Introduction

Alvin Purple became a huge success, breaking the box office records set by Michael Powell's Australian comedy 'They're a Weird Mob'. The film didn't have much success in the States though, being renamed 'The Sex Therapist'."Ozploitation refers to the Australian exploitation films that were produced during a fruitful period in the 1970s and 1980s. Ozploitation films covered a range of genres, ones as diverse as Sexploitation (Alvin Purple, Pacific Banana), Biker films (Stone), Horror films (Patrick, Long Weekend) and even Kung Fu (The Man from Hong Kong). The most famous films to come out of this period were, for Australians: Razorback, BMX Bandits and for both Australians and International audiences: the Mad Max films.

The origin of the term
Writer-Director Quentin Tarantino had previously referred to the genre as "Aussiesploitation". When creating his documentary "Not Quite Hollywood", director Mark Hartley decided to use a shorter term to encompass the era and thus the term "Ozploitation" was born.

What is Ozploitation?
Unlike genres with established codes and conventions (such as sexploitation and beach party films), Ozploitation doesn’t refer to a specific style of filmmaking. The main requirement for an Ozploitation film is that it simply be an Australian genre film. So the aforementioned Alvin Purple can be both Ozploitation and sexploitation. However, one important factor in these films was the way that they exploited Australian stereotypes and aspects of Australian culture to attain audiences within Australia and possibly overseas. Whether it be the “larrikin” attitude of its protagonists or be it the extreme Australian stereotypes in The Adventures of Barry McKenzie, Ozploitation films were distinctly Australian.

How did the “Ozploitation period” come to be?

Mad Max 2 was very popular in the United States and in Japan. This is not surprising as Max resembles the heroes of Westerns and Chambara (Samurai films).Very little films were made during the 1960s in Australia (notable exceptions being Director Michael Powell’s two Australian outings). Then in the 70s there was a flood of films being made in Australia. This period is often called the “Golden Age of Australian cinema” and it was in this period that Australia had its own cinematic New Wave. Various factors led to this boom. One major factor was that there were large tax cuts offered by the Australian government for those who funded Australian films. While this led to several high-profile art films being made, it was more instrumental in creating the big wave of genre films in Australia (which continued into the 1980s). With wealthy groups funding massive amounts of low-budget genre pictures to limit the amount of tax they had to pay, there was a boom in what became known as “Ozploitation”. One other factor which was responsible for the type of films being made in Australia at this time was the introduction of the R rating. The Australian R rating restricted access to only audience members over the age of 18 years. This created a market that many Australian filmmakers were eager to supply to. In particular, this led to an increase in Sexploitation films to capitalize on the novelty of the R rating. One of the most notable examples is the film Alvin Purple.
Although there was a revival in Australian cinema during the 1990s, the Ozploitation period ended in 1980s. Recent Aussie films are often dramas and/or crime films and not much in the way of wild genre films are made. This is possibly the reason the Australian film industry is struggling.

não tenho bem noção do número de pessoas que habitualmente visitam o blog. Pelos numero s apresentados no contador cerca de 5 por dia, possivelmente sempre as mesmas. novamente, a circular pela net. blog puxa blog e acabei por ir dar a este site: 30 Under Dc totalmente dedicado às bandas e editoras de punk, hardcore alternativo, de Washington Dc desde 1975 até 2005. Muitas fotos, histórias, etc.

O meu amigo Martin da suécia enviou-me este link: kbdrecords.com e fiquei meio estupido com a qualidade do "blog".
Percam um bocado de tempo e chequem a Radio totalmente dedicado ao melhor punk, hardcore e power pop do passado e presente. Muito bom!

McRad - Weakness

nunca me esqueci de uma cena de um filme chamado Public Domain (Powell Peralta video - 1988) em que aparecia o Ray Barbee a descer uma rua de skate. Mas não foi só a imagem que permaneceu na minha cabeça, durante anos tentei descobrir qual a banda sonora que acompanhava aquela cena.
Só depois de ter conseguido arranjar uma cópia de THRASHER SKATE ROCK vol. 1 é que descobri esta música: McRad - Weakness

No final dessa cena, segue-se outra com Ray Barbee e penso que Lance Mountain tem um t-shirt de Misfits vestida em que há mais uma música de McRad a tocar, desta vez: Hesitation
Imaginem o impacto que foi ver um filme que misturava o melhor do skate com o melhor do punk hardcore, tudo isto quando eu devia ter apenas uns 12 anos...

Com 320 visitas até agora, até me sinto mal ficar tanto tempo sem aqui escrever...
Decidi fotografar a minha colecção de tábuas de skate dos anos 80 e é com orgulho que as coloco aqui. Algumas já foram usadas por mim, outras ainda estão dentro da embalagem original.
De todas a mais carismática é a Vision - Grigley (mini2 1987) por ter sido a minha tabua de skate desde que eu tinha 14 ou 15 anos e a Super Flex por ser a mais old school de todas e não saber nada da historia dela.
